For an instant I could not remember when or where I photographed this boy. But it all returned to me within the following minutes. I believe he and several other of his friends were making way to classes at Luang Prabang one early morning when I photographed him standing by the sidewalk. It must have been some 4 months now since the shot was taken and my first look at the negative. Looking back at , he hardly seemed as if he'd posed the way he appears in this photo.

Ok don't stop reading this blog...but if you've ever thought of learning a little something about film photography, Justin ouellette has just reposted an updated post on how to develop your own films at home for sub $50 at www.chromogenic.com/verba.
Make heads towards www.2point8.whileseated.org for more interesting bits on street photography. The guy's managed to compile some old interviews of Gary Winogrand and the sorts

Lo-Fi Digitizing of color negatives
a fun, awesome, quickie, cheap way of seeing the result of my work.
I would set up a digital camera to shoot the negatives against
my laptop screen, then import it into photoshop and invert it.
2 months ago I returned to my hometown (sabah) and found heaps
of old film that I used to shoot during my days as a kid. But I couldn't
find the prints. So I tried converting the negative. but you get this nasty
blue tint on it because of the color negative's orange tint.
I gave up. Every now and then I'd go back and give it another go.
Eventually...I managed to neutralize the blue tint...quite fulfilling to see
that "digital-color-print-negative". The two negatives above
were one's I discovered the shop had left out during its printing. What a
pain.

Chimping on analog photography; Negs drying in the bathroom
Ilford Delta 3200, Ilford DDX @11"
Upon first inspection, the negatives seemed rather thin(underexposed). No surprise here...
..was shooting under pitch black conditions; only
lights from street lamps and buildings etc...don't really know wht the canon is metering on...
..4:22am..going to sleep
